Postby mdimaiuta » Wed Oct 02, 2013 10:38 am

The Interactive Highway Safety Design Model (IHSDM) 2013 Release (version 9.0.0; September 30, 2013) is now available. Download the software for free at http://www.ihsdm.org. The 2013 Public Release contains a Beta version of crash prediction capabilities for freeway ramps, collector-distributor (C-D) roads and ramp terminals, based on draft Highway Safety Manual (HSM) materials developed under National Cooperative Highway Research Project 17-45.

A free web conference (open to all) to introduce the IHSDM 2013 Release will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm (Eastern Time). Please register by October 21 at: https://www.nhi.fhwa.dot.gov/resources/ ... nfid=26828. The meeting URL, teleconferencing number and additional instructions will be sent to you after registration.

IHSDM - a suite of software analysis tools for evaluating safety and operational effects of geometric design decisions - includes six evaluation modules: Crash Prediction, Policy Review, Design Consistency, Intersection Review, Traffic Analysis and Driver/Vehicle. The Crash Prediction Module (CPM) serves as a faithful implementation of HSM Part C (Predictive Methods) for rural two-lane highways (HSM Chapter 10), rural multi-lane highways (HSM Chapter 11), urban/suburban arterials (HSM Chapter 12), freeways (HSM Draft Chapter 18) and ramps (HSM Draft Chapter 19). The IHSDM Administration Tool includes a CPM Calibration Utility, which is intended to assist agencies in implementing the calibration procedures described in the Appendix to HSM Part C. The other IHSDM evaluation modules are applicable to rural two-lane highways. Step-by-step instructions and hands-on exercises are illustrated in the IHSDM Tutorial.

Existing registered IHSDM users: please use your IHSDM username and previously assigned password to access and download the new release at http://www.ihsdm.org. If you already have an earlier version of IHSDM installed, a call home feature / message will also remind you to update it to the latest version the next time you use the software. Please note that the IHSDM 2013 Release should NOT be installed over previous versions of IHSDM. To access a legacy IHSDM Project in the 2013 Release, first Archive the legacy Project in the “old” Release and then Un-Archive the Project in the 2013 Release.

New users: please look for “download registration” at http://www.ihsdm.org. On this website, you can also find additional information related to case studies / user applications, past webinar materials, and frequently asked questions.
